Hello, and welcome—I’m so glad you’re here!
I’m Cindy Hutton, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Group Psychotherapist with years of experience guiding individuals, couples, and families toward meaningful growth and change. I specialize in helping people understand themselves more deeply, improve their relationships, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
My approach is compassionate, inclusive, and grounded in research-informed clinical experience. In our work together, I’ll create a warm and nonjudgmental space where all thoughts and feelings are welcome. We’ll use curiosity and kindness to explore the patterns that may be keeping you stuck—whether they come from past experiences, relationship dynamics, or beliefs about yourself that no longer serve you.
I earned my Master’s Degree in Community Mental Health from the University of Rochester in 2002. For the next ten years, I worked at Strong Behavioral Health as a primary therapist in the Adult Ambulatory Clinic, and as a research therapist and coordinator for clinical studies exploring depression, suicidality, trauma, and the effectiveness of evidence-based practices like Interpersonal Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I also taught college courses in Interpersonal Communication and Crisis Communication at Monroe Community College, deepening my appreciation for how language, relationships, and identity shape our mental health.
Since 2011, I’ve been in private practice full-time, where I continue to deepen my expertise through ongoing training in attachment theory, neuroscience, and working with individuals and families affected by neurodiversity. I also maintain a clinical focus on adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, drawing on trauma-informed and relational approaches that foster safety, empowerment, and healing. This work is further shaped by modern psychoanalytic techniques, developed through advanced training at The Center for Group Studies in New York City.
As a therapist, I’m both deeply reflective and actively engaged. I’ll help you connect the dots between your past and present, understand how your brain and body respond to stress, and build skills for a more grounded, fulfilling life. Whether you’re navigating trauma, managing everyday anxiety, or striving for stronger, more authentic relationships, I provide thoughtful, experienced guidance to support lasting change.
